The Fabuloso recall notice states that there are five distinct scented variants of the cleaner that are impacted.
Colgate-Palmolive, a major manufacturer of household products, is recalling over 4.9 million Fabuloso multipurpose cleaning products because they could expose users to dangerous microorganisms.
Pseudomonas-species bacteria, which are common environmental organisms in soil and water, may be present in the recalled products, according to a warning posted on the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website on Wednesday.
The impacted cleaners come in five different scents.
A preservative was not put in the proper quantities during manufacturing, according to a notification on the Fabuloso website.
The warning states that there is a danger of bacterial growth in the recalled products due to an insufficient preservative.
Between December 14, 2022, and January 23, 2023, when the manufacturing problem was fixed, the impacted items were produced, according to Fabuloso. It claims that 3.9 million of these bottles, or nearly 80%, were never made available for purchase by the general public.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, those who are exposed to the germs and have compromised immune systems, external medical equipment, or underlying lung problems run the risk of developing serious infections that may require medical attention. According to the article, bacteria can enter the body through the eyes or a skin breach. Also possible is inhalation.
According to the commission, people with strong immune systems are typically unaffected by the germs.
